De Bosgroepen have become member of the European Laurus network, a European network providing training and innovation to technical staff of forest owners’ organisations. The aim of the Laurus network is to provide expert training, offer innovative solutions and create valuable connections.
The first activity of the Laurus network was a webinar on the voluntary carbon market and land use carbon projects in Europe, this took place on Wednesday September 17. The recordings are available once you are registered in the Laurus network. You can register by clicking on the Join Now button on the Laurus website: https://www.laurusnetwork.eu/. Additional actvities will be announced soon.
The Laurus network was created a few months ago, during the SMURF small forest owners’ associations conference that took place in Rome in May, where De Bosgroepen were also present.
The SMURF project is a European project that aims to support small forest owners organisations in providing information, sharing news, creating policy documents and setting up relevant project to support their work. De Bosgroepen participate in this project via the Koepel van Vlaamse Bosgroepen. The first SMURF project started in January 2025 and will be completed in December 2025. However, a second call has already taken place, focusing not only on disseminiation and communication, but also on developing business models, setting up carbon pilot projects and training sessions.
